Hypothermia

Risking cardiac arrhythmias,

I soaked my heart in ice water,

Lowering core temperature

in the proverbial dirge of pretence.

To deliver joy to men who take pride

in remote control of other’s lives.

My frail body is losing heat

more than it is creating it.

I do not want to play snow-games!

In the warm hilly savannahs of Africa.

To have my nervous system breakdown!

With my vital organs slowing down,

I am wood-curving my heart for the butcher!

Diagnosing me with thermoregulatory disorders

I am not innocent and NOW!

I am just lighting a fireplace

To warm my cold heart.

Love the person I love without

Being afraid of the stars,

Judging me for what I do beneath them

I want her to be the star

That glows in the starless night

Those illustrations complete the charming atmosphere of your works. Smart decision on including them here and there.
